Are their any good .40 cal handguns smaller than the HK USP Compact? I'm looking for a real small carry gun in .40 S&W.

I'm a fan of the Glock 27...nice and compact. You also get 9 rounds with it, which is the benifit of double stack over a single stack like my Sig 239. Both great guns, but one is a little more concealable than the other, and holds two more rounds too!

Not sure if they still make it but Kahr used to make one that was a 1911 style, but smaller than the officer's model.
Hate myself for ever getting rid of it.

Kahr is probably your best bet for a small concealable 40S&W.

OR

If you don't like either of these then the Glock 27 would be the next best thing.

I just bought my first handgun two days ago. I have no way to compare any other handgun so I don't really provide much useful experience. However I purchased a Springfield XD 40 aka XD9102 to be exact shoots the .40S&W. I love it! I have heard great reviews from other owners so maybe you should check it out too! I was told to rent guns at the range that I was interested and see which fit me best so maybe thats a good route for you too.

I have seen them from $550 to $650. My dealer has them in the $600 range give or take twenty bucks depending on the model.

MSRP or what you can get one for at a reasonable price? MSRP is generally around $700 to $800, from what I saw on their website. You could probably get one for somehwere over $600 at a good gun shop. Maybe even cheaper, but I'm basing this off of what I've seen with other MSRP's of pistols.
