I'm interested in a full sized H&K USP and have handled them, never fired them, most recently a HK 45 and a USP Expert.  I believe the Expert has a match trigger, and I didn't like the HK45 at all what with the ambi mag release getting in the way of my trigger pull.  The Expert trigger also had me perplexed what with the super long DA.

My experience is with SIG 226 9mm (3) and .40 S&W (2) with thousands of rounds downrange.  My first 2005 226 has 9460 rounds.  Also have limited experience with a Glock 19.

I know that dry firing is not a good example on how it will shoot.  Take the recent purchase G19 #5.5 stock trigger.  I hated it at the gun shop but have been wanting to try a Glock for years I got one anyway.  At the range I love the trigger and the short reset.

Tell my about the USP trigger (non-match, stock trigger).  How does the DA / SA compare to a SIG?  How does the LEM trigger compare to a Glock?  If the DA trigger pull is really that long a pull, can it be shortened - Bruce Grey's carry trigger job?

imo if you wanted a full size USP, get the match trigger unit. some say its worth the extra $.

The 226 has a hands down better DA pull than a USP.  However I think the SA pulls are quite comparable and I like that I can carry my V1 USP Condition 1

The LEM trigger is not like a Glock, it's more like a very short and light DA trigger... smooth and even trigger movement.  You'll need to try it to see if you like it...

I found the USP DA trigger easier than the P226 I had, it's also not valid to compare a 10,000 round broken in pistol with a new pistol as far as trigger feel.

I'm scratching my head over how a USP mag release was "getting in the way of my trigger pull"

He said it was getting in the way on the HK45. I know on my P30, if there isn't a mag inserted, the mag release sticks up quite a bit and my finger hits it while dry firing. With a mag inserted, it's not an issue.

Compared to a Sig, the HK has a looooong, heeeeaaaavy trigger. It does smooth out after quite a while, but it is not a good trigger, at least in DA. The SA is a bit better, but IMO, for all the bragging and price for an HK, they should have better triggers. The LEM isn't bad, it's like the DAK trigger for a Sig, not at all like a Glock. It's basically the same length of pull of a standard DA, but without the 12 lb weight.

Bruce Gray of Grayguns actually works on HK USPs trigger as he used to compete with those guns.
