I have a USP 45 Tac that I do really like.  It does have the HK match trigger.  The trigger does make an extremely clean break that brings a smile to my face every time I shoot it.  However, prior to that point, there is a period of takeup, even just on the S/A pull, that has some resistance and travel to it.  If I have the time to aim at my target very deliberately, I can work it like a two stage trigger and do great, but if I am moving and shooting at multiple targets, or doing double taps and the like, my POA gets thrown off by that take up.

Is there anyone who can do an action job and get rid of that damn take up and what ever mechanical processes it is doing.  I realize that this would be similar to turning a Colt Series 80 trigger into a Series 70 and would necessitate the removal of certain safety features, probably a firin pin block, but I am willing to take that chance for an IPSC class trigger.

Sounds to me like you simply need some more time behind the trigger with practice?

Look up Bruce Gray.  Supposedly he's the man to go to.  I haven't done so myself, but I've pondered it.  There's another thread on this, I'll try to dig up.

he's got a lot of + reviews on Hkpro....talked to him a while back, seems like a great guy and knows what he is doing, but his prices were kinda steep for me then...

I would appreciate reading it.

Having trouble finding it.  From the USP Faq on hkpro:

"How good are Bruce Gray's trigger jobs? He can make them much better than stock. He can do a simple polishing to smooth everything up. If you are an experienced competition shooter, he can rework the USP trigger down to 2 lbs with minimal over travel and minimal reset, but it does void the warranty and disables double action and the firing pin block, as I said for experience competition shooters only. It is as good as a decent 1911 trigger."

I hear he's getting on in years and I'm thinking I should decide whether I want to have my guns sent to him soon lest he stops doing this type of work.

disables the double action...hmmmm.

I would have to think about that.  The whole benefit of the USP over the 1911 is its double action safety versatility.  I wonder if that disables the de-cocker.  Even if it didn't I wonder if the decocker would be safe w/o the firing pin block???

Well, at least a guy could still check the chamber w/o disengaging the safety.

I just would be a little wary of sticking a 2lb trigger gun in my waste for fear that the manual safety might accidently come off and then something might bump that trigger.  If the de-cocker still worked then I would feel more comfortable carrying w/o holster.

The decocker would still be safe because of the half cock notch, but personally I don't use the DA pull on my USP.

I'm sure you can have him do less extreme work on the gun if you talk to him.
