Quoted: Right at the beginning of Covid I passed up a factory OD green USP 45 at a gun shop for $499.00 . At the time I didn’t know that OD was a rare color . Duh ! Dang. That’s a long string of whoops moments. The seller, the gun store, and unfortunately you too. ![]() Someone scored big time and they probably didn’t know it either. I passed on one of the 2005 SOCOM COTS overrun sand frame G19’s. No one even believed they existed until one sold online for $2000 and that was over a decade ago. The local Scheel’s had about 20 of them on the shelf next to a variety of colored USP’s. I had no idea about any of them at the time. Hindsight is a…… |

I've wanted a USP since I was a kid watching Jack Bauer on 24. Still don't own any HKs, I should fix that by picking up a USP40-it'll probably make me buy more .40 ammo and shoot my P239 more too. Now that a bunch of people are dumping .40's there should be good used deals out there too. Thanks for reminding me OP. Aside from the MK23 the USP may be the most overbuilt handgun available. While they are cartoonishly large, MK23s are also cool; a guy I work with just picked one up about a month ago. I have never understood the "I only own ______, muh toolz!" buffoonery, as though you can't own more than one type of firearm. IDK if it's an extension of the same mindset we see elsewhere on this site where a new rifle/import becomes available and half the members say "I'd never buy one because it's not as good at ____ as an AR" (usually if for no other reason than aftermarket support). IMHO there are certain designs that everybody should own if for no other reason than their significance in the history of firearm design. Everyone should own an AK, a 1911, and I recommend owning a BHP, CZ-75, and P220 in order to see the evolution of the JMB tilting barrel that has become the default for nearly every poly/striker gun that is so prevalent today. Now that decent BHP and 1911 clones are readily available for under $500 there really isn't a reason not to. Mini-14s are cool too, though the current asking prices are kind of retarded. That can also be said of the current AK market. I will say that, based on a lot of the more recent threads here, it seems that many are coming around. I'd venture to say that 1911s and BHPs are more popular now than at any other time in the last few decades. |

I remember shooting them back in the early 2000’s and eventually around 06 I got a usp45T. I shot it. And liked it. But it somehow got relegated to the back of the safe. In the last 3 years I have bought a good selection of HKs and then decided to pull out the 45T again. Then went and bought a 40C and a 40F stainless. Then a USP45C. Now I’m waiting for my USP9 Elite. I’m searching for a factory USP357C currently. They are robust pistols that are built like a tank and very accurate. Good enough for my needs. You can also mod the mags for higher capacity easily. |

German SF picked up the PDP, which is a good sign the P8’s day are numbered. If HK loses the contract for the P8 I bet the USP gets discontinued almost immediately. |

I could actually see that happening it is probably still costly to make the USP and with the VP9 and P30 having some minor commonality it really does not make sense to keep making the USP. That is probably all that is keeping it alive because it is probably not a big seller on the civilian market and everything that does reach the civilian market is probably overruns or cancelations plus what they had slated. |

I contacted HK to see if they still made the USPc357. I was told Not at the moment and no intention to make them again. However if I wanted to order 500 of them they would make it happen. Tells me that they are just making them in batches as needed and then intentionally doing overruns for sale on the civ market. USPc 45 is probably my favorite USP at the moment. |

Quoted: M2.0 10mm trigger levels of abomination? Or [GASP] worse? It’s about 5 pounds. My M&P has a cleaner break but not near as good of a pull feel or weight. It’s amazing to me that people who shoot Glocks and such can bash the USP trigger. I’d even rate the single action as better than a CZ basic trigger. The double action is absolutely excessive though. They do have a quarter cocked position like Beretta to reduce it, but it’s heaviest and worst right before the break. Luckily the USP is one of few DA pistols that functions as a SAO. |

Quoted: If the P8 and USP are discontinued their value will explode. If you don’t own a USP yet now is the time to get one. I’ve been rethinking my plan to have mine milled for a red dot. Mostly because I have a really bad astigmatism that can actually slow me down when I’m trying to be accurate, but also because the colored frame USP’s have a history of being worth a lot more. |

Yeah, I wouldn’t. The OD Green and FDE are very rare. They already demand a premium. |

Quoted: I didn’t ask. It was one of those that even at $500 ea I didn’t have $250,000 to spend. HK Pro pulled off a sprint run of FDE HK45C’s but it was a shit show. Tons of them ended up for sale and with the HK Pro logo lasered on the slide, I can’t imagine many want them. These FDE USP’s were allegedly ordered by Lipsey’s who does custom sprint runs with lots of companies. All I’ve been able to find on production numbers for the run mine is from is that Lipsey’s won’t disclose how many were made. Guessing it was sizable as they’re still in stock everywhere. |

Quoted: Agree. Just because you wouldn’t take it to war as your first choice doesn’t mean a gun can’t be functional or entertaining. I just can’t get aligned with the only own one gun crowd and I’m certainly okay with that. As an old man, I will probably never go to war. But if shtf, or something scary goes bump in the night and I have time to reach past nearer Glocks, Sigs, Berettas, and others I will grab my USP45tac. If it’s serious enough to need two pistols I will grab my USP45fs cloned to be a tac also. After all if short, fat, and old aren’t dangerous take it up with Mike Tyson. If you want peak Mike, hit the mag release and slap in a mag of Lehigh 255grn hardcast .45 supers. Why wouldn’t a pistol designed to be a battle pistol that holds the durability record, and was used by an ammunition manufacturer as a proof house pistol determining chamber over pressure rounds that was sent back to the manufacturer as a proactive maintenance check up be a reliable choice? By the way, the pistol required no corrective action but was resprung just because, and the pistol just happens to be a laser beam that out performs better than everyone that shoots it except Jerry Miculek and a handful of others. You do you, but my battle belt is staged for my USP and will remain that way. The USP is the A-10 of pistols |

I have gotten some solid deals off of the EE, especially if you want leo only mags. With two to feed in perpetuity I have built a spare parts box that should last generations. Hopefully the polymer will, the jury is still out on plastic fantastics. But if any last, you can bet they will be HK’s, and probably USP’s at that. |

You failed to challenge anyone’s sexuality. You still got a 10/10 for the rant. Nicely done. Daily carry is an HK. The USP or a VP9. If it came down to it. I love my sig stainless elites. Well my light is moving around on the GG&G adapter. TLR7 and same shit as the Surefire X300 where it runs into the mounting interface. This means the picatinny clamp doesn’t tighten to the rail, it tightens the light body against the adapter mount. Attached File Decided to dump the GG&G. They should have pushed the mount back into the trigger guard. There’s no reason to have so much meat that far forward on the rail, and the interference is why they’re not compatible with Surefire and why they slip off. The TLR1 works but I’m just reluctant to trust the GG&G now. I bought a Farrow Tech comp as I wanted it to be like a long slide. Scrapping that for the HK parts rail comp. More John Wick style than I wanted but it’s the most durable way to mount on a light on these and I planned to comp it anyway. Now I can run an X300 with the high grip buttons to still have the controls be where they should. (This version but mine will be two toned to match the frame and whatever color I decide fit in the slide.) Attached File It may be a little cheesy but their clamshell clamp design will be the toughest option to mount a light. I’m already going to have to go custom on the holster anyway so no big deal there. ETA: Just found someone is making a reproduction of the Surefire. You can see it’s relieved where lights run into the GG&G. It’s also not a 3 piece design so it should be more stable too. $200 is too steep for me though. Attached File |
| Why HK won’t offer an extended thumb safety is beyond me. The same for a lot of CZ models. I hate the DA on most H&Ks, but am fine with the SA (except the reset on the P30, that’s just awful). Make a gun that can be carried cocked and lock and then put a small safety on it, it just makes no sense. |

You can get quality Turkish made BHP and 1911s for under $400. Their cheap. AKs and SKSs used to be beloved. Everyone was supposed to have a $80 SKS trunk gun. Now that they are $800-$1,500 everyone wants to clown on them. x39 was sub 10cpr, people converted ARs to shoot it. Now that it's 70cpr people are buying 556 AKs. |

My Farrowtech comp gets here Friday after 25 days. USPS lost the first one. I had no idea HK Parts had such slow shipping so hopefully mine gets here next week I guess. Searching around, could be up to a month as they apparently sit forever at label created, where mine has been at since Friday. Will run them back to back when they’re both in. Apparently there’s some mythical fucking demon that exists only to make sure you eat shit and wait for putting a comp on a USP. ![]() Still enthusiastic, especially for the HKP. My USP will now actually be huge like everyone insists they already are. |

Quoted: I still cant figure out how to drop the mag from my usp without rolling the gun over in my hand 20ish degrees so I can pinch the mag release paddle between my thumb and pointer finger on my dominant hand. If you can’t reach it with your thumb try your middle finger instead. |
|
Got the Farrowtech in. I’d post pictures but after almost a month of waiting I’m 99% sure they sent the 13.5mm HK wedge with the 1/2x28 comp. Trying not to be too disappointed as it looks awesome, but dang. Can’t catch a break. On a good note my HKP comp went from label created to being delivered tomorrow. Gotta love USPS. Knowing my luck it will be the 45 model.

I didn’t know if I’d like it. I fucking love it though. Attached File X300 with the raised buttons is definitely next up. Then coating and RMR mounting. |
