I'm in Atlanta, so I'll look for local Nitriding services. Hope someone local offers it. Yeah, Surefire 310Rs are super hard to find, without having to pay loco money. Best I ever did was found one almost new in box (had only been mounted to pistol for a few months, then I bought it. Even though it was technically used, it was in MINT condition). I got it for $125 shipped. So, they can be found at reasonable prices. I actually have a clone of a Surefire 310 / 610. Only difference between the 310 / 610 and 310R / 610R is the switch on the housing of the light. The "R" models have the constant on / off rocker switch. The non "R" models have the monetary on / off sliding switch. It is a clone (which I think even the clones are discontinued now), but I was able to obtain a laser products label for the body to make it look legit. It's made of aluminum just like the real thing. IM me if you're interested in it. Would at least be a good place holder until you find a legit 310R. You could also be on the lookout for a Surefire 607R or 307R, which was made for the Para Ordnance 1911s. Only difference between them is the Slimline grip switch. The 310R / 610R has the one that bolts into the upper grip screws. The 607R / 307R simply "clamps" around the front of the grip and the pressure switch has a very stiff metal flat spring that runs the length between the grip and back of the light. That is what provides the clamping force of the light against the frame, unlike the 310R / 610R that uses the grub screw, which when overtightened against the trigger guard would cause the slide stop to not lock the slide back reliably. The light on the pistol that Travis Haley built is NOT a 610R. It's actually the 607R I mentioned above. @Dunderway Is does look similar to the profile of a Heinie ledge that Infidel4life11 mentioned, but I agree it looks more like a modified Novak meant for easier one handed racking off clothing / shoes. I say that, because comparing the gun Travis Haley built to the Heinie Ledge sight, the Haley version looks "thinner" or more low profile, as well as the rear part of the sight looks narrower. Also, look at the front corners of the Haley sight (mainly thee chamfers), just above the dovetail and compares it the Heinie ledge. @SlingingBrass I PM’d you |

@SlinginBrass No experience with the barrel, but if you want clone correct you'd need to go with Bar-sto, Nowlin, or Wilson. I think there were SACS guns that had SACS barrels, but I don't think those are for sale individually. If you're just going with a clone built on appearance, I personally would stay away from eBay finds. Who knows what you'll end up with. Here's an alternative, albeit without a link and bushing. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1005750970 |

That was with the USGI frame and Springfield Armory slides (Mil-spec and earlier model slides) In 2009 when they switched to the Caspian frame (SN MCXXX) with Springfield slides (the Loaded model slide along with the Operator slide) is when they renamed it the M45. In marking the books I have a picture of a buddies record book from 2010 when he was with Force Recon that read "M1911A1 MEUSOC .45CAL". |

Buddy brought a Colt CQBP into work today and looked at them side by side. Definitely a fan of the original more. The craftsmanship difference is very apparent while handling them. Attached File |

Don’t get me wrong the Colt CQBP holds a special place in my heart but the MC kinda dicked that up. They could have easily gone for what Colt is putting out now with front strap texture and better internals. No clue why they would select an 80series gun. ETA: I should be ordering my Caspian receiver soon, already got the slide. |

No SACS markings anywhere, no PROFESSIONAL on the slide. Just Springfield Armory on starboard side and MODEL 1911-A1 CAL .45 on port side. From what I understand (correct me if I am wrong) this run was done by the Springfield Custom Shop for an order of 150 Professional slide/frames to be made into M45's for MARSOC. Nowlin engraved barrel, Novak's engraved sight (plain, no markings or tritium vials). Finish is what appears to be parkerizing though a little less chalky, a little more black. |

It isn’t a “professional” in the sense that the specific moniker is for FBI contract and civilian consumer pistols. However it is a SACS build off of the parts used in a Professional, with the M45 specifics added on such as the Pach grips etc. When I called Springfield they did say the USMC serialized “M45” pictured here was a SACS build off of a “FBI frame and FBI slide” with other details of the build parts. They didn’t have ANY other information regarding the build other than it’s spec sheet, which would make sense given where the finished product was sent to. |

Built like the professional without the moniker. I’d own one in a heartbeat. |

Attached File Mail call. Word of caution folks, don't order MidwayUSA free shipping right now, it's all sorts of f-ed up. All I have remaining is the disconnecter, which is gonna take a minute from C&S. Side question folks - is there any record of checkered MSH's vs. serrated? I thought checkered were used as well but all I'm seeing lately is serrated. I have a S&A MSH that I was going to use for this. | They definitely at least had the Professional slides on a number of there builds, The added forward serrations by PWS took out part of the word professional on them. But you could still clearly see part of the words. If memory serves me correctly, Pat Rogers said they took delivery of approximately 150 professional models. |

The professional rollmark was on the left side opposite the ejection port. Fcs didn't effect it. |

Hey pleaforwar, The only ones I saw (in pictures) as having checkered mainspring housings were the Kimber ICQB, the Springfield custom shop “USMC” serial guns as pictured above, and the Quasi-Professional builds (these came with a checkered S&A magwell with lanyard loop and were later changed). |
