My Springfield Loaded 1911 is going to slide lock in the middle of a mag but it only does it with my load of 228 grn lead round nose bullets. This load shoots very well and I 'm certain they are seated deep enough with an OAL length of 1.236" and 6.5 grns of Unique. This gun does not do this with my load of 6.5 grns Unique and Hornady XTP's. For the life of me I can't figure this out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Have you miked the diameter of the case, at the ball, of loaded rounds?  In spec?  In other words, what is the diameter of the bullet and is any particular brand of brass associated with the hiccup?

No particular brass, they are mixed just for practice. I will mike the brass And bullet combo and the bullets by them selvesto se if they are in spec.

Is the nose of bullet hitting the slide stop?

I ran into a similar problem when a 9mm slide stop was put in my .45
Lots of premature slide locks
The lug was .214" when it should have been anywhere from .200-.205

Man I think you're right on the money about the bullet hitting the slide stop. That would explain why it won't do it with Hornadt XTP's. They are a different profile. I will check this when I get home from work. Thank and I will update.
