I just ordered a new Springfield TRP with rail. I should pick it up over the weekend. Anything that should be changed or replaced on it from the begining? In your opinion what is some recommended improvements?

Only change I would like to do to mine is a single sided safety (I don't like ambi's), but the ambi left a drag mark, so I am not going to mess with it. I find the 20 LPI frontstrap a little tough - I believe Springfield or any 1911 smith can dull the points and make it a little less aggressive. Here is a pic of my Operator.  |

Here's mine. I replaced the grips with walnut from Brownell's. I also took out the FLGR because I don't like having to use an allen wrench to disassemble it. I replaced it with a stainless plug and GI guide rod. I also replaced the magazine release with a stainless extended mag release. The stock one felt a little short. Also, I took the ILS spring and plunger out of the MSH and replaced them with a standard weight spring and plunger (this has the added effect of disabling the ILS).  |

All I changed out on mine was the FLGR like another user in here already mentioned. Now that I have read this thread, I also would like to remove the ambi thumb safety, there is no need for me and I find it rather irritating more than anything. Congrats again, and enjoy shooting it! It's an awesome handgun.

| I love my TRP no need to change anything on it. Right out of the box mine was shooting just as well as all my friends who have high end Les Baers and Wilson Combats. I just do not like the rail on a 1911 but they are great pistol I got mine without the rail BTW. |
