Not the TRP model...

Would $699 be a good price for an unshot example of this gun??

Anything better at that price point?

Thanks.

This is the blued, maybe parked, model.......I think I saw them for $850.  Just wondering if there is better at this price, or maybe a better price on this gun than $699.

Thanks.

I got a TRP Operator (the non mil-spec model) [basically that is SA lingo for no spur hammer and a commander hammer, bull barrel, beavertail grip safety and ILS mag well.]

It was used. I wouldn't want to pay more than $600 for the TRP mil-spec. And usually they come with a M3 light.

But that is because I know when you buy a SA pistol you get a nice slide and frame and a box of shitty lowest bidder parts.

My slide and frame were all I kept.  The gun was not running 100% reliable and was rattling like a baby shaker but it would shoot 4inch groups offhand at 25yds.

When it comes back though it will be "Le Package Total" (the only forged light rail equipped frame on the market complete with the highest quality parts on the market.)

That said though, if you are content with a SA mil-spec you will probably be content with a SA TRP mil-spec. (same quality parts.)

My mistake I guess the mil-spec operator no longer exists, maybe the night sights, commander hammer, and beavertail make this worht $100 more. $699 could be good.

I got a well used version of this (minus M6) for $800 and even at that after selling the parts the slide and frame cost me $580. And the frontstrap checkering on mine was badly botched so I am having that re-done by EGW for $200.

I shot a TRP yesterday, pretty nice pistol! I didn't like the magwell, but the grips on that pistol was great, they felt like very low grit sandpaper.

It looks like the regular operator comes with the nightsights, that's a nice package.

I checked gunsamerica and the regular operator seems to be going in the $ 800 range, though there were only a few listed. There is one used one listed for a little under $ 600.

The two Kimbers with rails list for about $ 1000 and $ 1800.

Other than Baer and Wilson I can't think of another railed 1911.

Mine was 550. It was the mil-spec operator, not the TRP. This is the link for theLoaded Operator at Springfields site. It isn't listed on their normal screen. I can't remember how I found it.

If I were only keeping parts of it, I would include the one piece stainless barrel too. So far, mine is stock. I'm not really sure if I'm going to change that, or just buy another 911.

I wasn't aware that they came with an M3. Mine didn't. It doesn't make sense that it would as springfield markets the XML to compete with the M3.

I just purchased a new Loaded Operator not the TRP here in the Atlanta area for $779.00.  This was the best price I found locally as most shops have them priced between 825.00 to 925.00.

Just to clarify for anyone that might be confused.....

There are/were 3 models of Operators.
Milspec
Loaded
TRP

Milspec:

Loaded:

TRP:

The Milspec is just that. A standard milspec gun, with the Operator rail.
The Loaded, is an Operator with all the standard Loaded model features.
The TRP is a TRP with the rail.

I had a Loaded Operator, and it was an outstanding gun. I really missed it for a while (until I got my Kimber TLE/RL ).

MSRP:
Milspec Operator - $756.00
Loaded Operator - $949.00
TRP OPerator - $1473.00

A used TRP Operator for $1000 or less, would be a steal.

I still can't get over the looks of Springfields tactical rail. I'm sure it fuctions fine, but it over powers the look of the entire pistol. Ruins the classic lines of a 1911 in my opinion.

WAIT THERES A FORTH OPTION! (I'm a Smartass sorry)

I think it has a sort of Blunt beauty to it.  It deffinitely ruins the classic lines, but it designs a rough working look of its own (kind of looks like a club- menacing).

You do need a S&A style magwell to balance it out, without the well it looks front heavy and overly long.

It's stupid not to have the well (the gun is too big to conceal anyway.) why not have the smoother re-loads.?

I suppose you like this better?

HOLY L.A.M. BATMAN!
Or this?

SVI sure knows how to put the PIMP into 1911(2011 in this case).

There is one bad thing about full length dust covers, some suppressors will not clear without an extended threaded barrel (those are ugly as sin on 1911's).  Otherwise without a full length guide rod any suppressor will clear. (the slide and barrel (with suppressor attached) retract about .180in while the dustcover remains in the same place.)

And the light doesn't?

I wouldn't get one for looks. I'd get one because it has a better attachment point than a trigger guard clamp.
I will admit I don't know why it has to be full length. I think SA is the only one to do it this way. But I do like the extra heft.
