What can you tell me about this? Picked it up from a neighbor pretty cheap, just don't know anything about em. From what I've seen on the interwebz and asking around, sounds like Springfield made these for only a couple years back in the early '90s (I think '91ish-'93ish). I've had several 1911's and they all kinda disassembled the same way give or take, but this one is a tad different, never seen it before so any info there would be greatly appreciated. Also, was wondering what kind of parts these took..appears they take regular full size 1911 parts (like slide stops, grip safeties, thumb safety, etc.). Sweet little shooter, I just don't know anything about it. Tried googling it, but only came up with ultra-compacts and pistols of the like. Any info y'all have is awesome, thanks fellas.

I owned a few over the years and think they're a solid performer.

They were the sleeper version of Colt's CCO with a significant difference....the guide rod assembly was unique due to the barrel length. Colt uses a 4 1/4" barrel with a shorter version of their Government guide rod set up. The Springfield guns use a bushing less system and consequently have a different recoil spring assembly. They're still available from SA and it's not a bad idea to have an extra or two on hand.

Lew Horton did a limited run of two tones a while ago with standard dovetailed sights. The majority of the Compacts I've seen have Novak's, single sided safeties and beavertails. Most are nicely dehorned and carry real nice.

The only qualm I had with mine were that they seemed to lose their anodizing real quick on the frontstrap and around the edges of the beavertail.

Hitting up the various 1911 forums will give you way more info and pics.
