Does it use a standard length one? The mainspring cap looks to be a little longer due to the safety feature in the MSH.

I replaced MSH, spring, and caq and my hammer has some play in it. No other 1911 ive messed with had any slack. Im wondering if the OEM strut is slightly shorter because of a longer cap?

You will have a little play when the slide is off the frame.  When the gun is fully assembled, you shouldn't have any detectable play.

IIRC, I had the same problem (though it was a while ago). I replaced it with a Harrison Custom hammer strut and resolved the issue.
There was something with the particular MSH and the factory strut. Another MSH didn't really have the problem. Hard to remember though, it was a while ago.

The Springfield strut may be a bit short, in that case.   Not that it matters, it's just a cosmetic thing.

Then what could be causing my light strikes?

Springfield uses a titanium firing pin and a relatively heavy firing pin spring to avoid inertia firing.  If you're getting light strikes consistently, I'd look into putting a standard firing pin spring (Wolff includes one with their recoil springs), and possibly a steel firing pin from EGW.   I mention EGW because Springfield also uses an in between firing pin diameter.  Measure your current one so you know what size to buy.  Might as well buy a hammer strut too.
