How much slide rattle is normal for a sig?  I have a refurb 229R (cop trade in I suppose) that  shows quite a bit of rattle.  My GSR and the 226 I used to have don't make noise when shaken, this does.

rattle is usual. i have a 1989 police trade in P226, and it has significant rattle. cop guns are notorious for being carried all the time, but shot little. that being said, mine is still a tack driver. it doesnt bother me at all..

The first Sig I bought was a P226 that rattled like a snake.  It was a trade-in with lots of finish wear on it, and the guy wanted $325 for it.  People were attracted to the price, but never bought it because of the rattle and obvious wear.  This was long ago, when you just didn't see PD trade-in Sigs.

I bought it to see what all the fuss about Sigs was.

It dorve tacks and ran 100%.  It sold me on Sigs.  I sold it and bought a newer P226 later on.

Don't worry too much about rattle, the only thing that matters is how it shoots.

Normal.  What's critical is the barrel to slide lockup.  That is typcially very tight on SIGs.

My P226 has lots of rattle.  When I got issued my P226R I did the buy back on my P226.  Its very dependable and I would trust it on duty or not.  Police trade-ins are a great deal.  Like most say, The majority of PD issue just sit in holsters and are just shot on qual day.  IMO they are an awesome deal.  Unless you are having function problems , no worries.
