| I recently acquired a 229 SAS with the srt trigger and it is darn nice, but I was not aware the slide was so thick compared to my P6 (interent buy, no sig dealer close to compare) by about 1/4". I also stumbled onto a 228R and it followed me home, so I got to thinking that the SAS frame would be nicer for ccw with the 228 slide and the 228R frame with the 229 slide would be good for bedside HD. I have swapped the slides and the safety features are intact and it dryfires alright, but are there any problems associated with the srt mechanism and the 228 slide? More specifically on srt pistols are there any differences in the slide compared to non srt guns and their slides? Side note, while the SAS treatment is good there is still real sharp edges along the ribs that have the slide serrations, sometimes if I am just going for a errand I will carry mexican-style and that 229 slide likes to slice and dice the hide. These are pretty sharp compared to the 228 slide. Not that I would alter either of these new sigs, but on my P6 it had decent slide wear and I planned on refinishing the slide so a did a mild dehorn. I used all hand files and broke every 90 degree corner to a nice radius and then reblued and added trijicons, damn nice looking piece for 425 (thats including the trijicons). |
