Here's a question I haven't heard asked so far BUT came to mind as I was fondling my Gold Cup...has anyone had the slide stop cutout wear out? As in it being rounded off from thumbing off the slide stop? On my 1911, the very corner of the cutout has gotten a little burr on it but the slide still holds in place well. Anyone here have this problem? The fix seems quite simple if it does occur. Just curious...[>:/]

That's why I release my slide by pulling it back. I never use the slide stop to put the pistol into battery.

Mine hasn't and I have used a mix of slide stop drop and tap rack. I am thinking of picking up a new slide stop just to grind down the protrusion on the right side of the frame since I have inadvertently pushed it out during some failure drills.

Gotcha - good practice,  but you see, all my training comes from the movies

You release you slide by pulling it back every time because you don't want to be the one guy in 1,000,000 to end up with a burr on the frame?

Funny... I release the slide by manipulating the slide release so that I don't have to be that one guy in 1,000, 000 who must replace the whole slide because the cocking serrations wore out.

Damn.... good one!

I release the slide on my Kimber by manipulating the Wilson combat extended slide release I specifically installed so I dont have to readjust my grip after mag changes. My rear cocking serrations might wear down but at least I know the front ones will stay crisp.
