I can't seem to find a listing for the date of manufacture. Every post i have read people refer to their book. I hope someone here has the book.

The model 59 was introduced in 1971 and S&W brought out the 2nd gen 439 & 459 in 1980 to 1981. The ISP switched to the 439 in 1981. You can contact S&W to get a better date on manufacture. You might also check the S&W forum.

serial #'s A565001-A655000 ran from 1979-1980. Your A604*** runs right in the middle. If I had to guess, late 79/very early 80

Don't have the book in front of me but an A604xxx will be one of the later ones. Late seventies most likely. My A475xxx 39 is a 1976 edition.
