Its starting to ghet warm around here and I have thought about taking a run downtown or around the area in search for a smaller belly and a healthy heart. Not to mention feeling better and generally being healthier. Unfortunatly I want to carry my little S&W 642 revolver and I dont know a comfortable way to do it. I hate to have it hitting my leg or creating rug burn. Any help from any runners? Would a belly band suffice? Any comfortable ankle holsters? Any help is greatly appreciated!

I use a Safepacker holster from Wilderness Tactical. Safepacker.  I loop the shoulder strap through the velco on the back and make two arm loops.  Then I can carry it snugly in the center of my back as I run.

Using a sufficiently small, light gun - something like an aluminum-alloy J-frame - I find a Smartcarry works pretty well.  The only problem you might have is if you wear it too high, in which case it will swing & smack you in the jimmy with every stride.  That's why I emphasized the "small, light gun" part.

Here is a picture of how I wear my safepacker when I run:

I can pull it very tight by moving my shoulders forward and I can get it off in a hurry by pushing by shoulders back and together.  It keeps my gun centered, high, and secure.  Plus, I can put a spare mag, my wallet and my keys in there.

I'm curious too about what you guys do.  My usual rig is a Kimber CDP Pro in a Sparks VM2.  I was thinking about investing in a Glock 27 and some sort of belly band holster.  I found this one while looking around.

Any of you guys have any experience with these or other similar holster options or carrying without a belt in general?

It is not uncommon to see runners with a fanny pack and water bottle(s). It might be the last place where a fanny pack does not scream gun.

Camelbak Flashflo.

I can carry my 340PD, iPhone, ID and keys in it. Oh yeah, you have water in there too. Now that I am running more often and able to go further w/o H2O, I am just using a fanny pack.

I just ran a 5K with a small fanny pack and my 340PD.

Do you have any pics of your actual holster? I have been eying them since they came out.

I carry my M&P 340 in an ACE belly band while cycling. I cycle with the whole tight-fitting spandex/lycra kit on and no one I ride with has ever noticed my gun. I carry it wrapped around my belly with two speed strips in the magazine pockets. I've also used it while jogging with a G26.

I actually just moved the elastic holster over a little less than 1/2" after viewing my pictures. Now there is no print when the cargo compartments are empty. Normally I have a small gerber folder, Surefire E1B as well as a key, speed strips , ID and license to carry  in them.

Suprised to see the MP3 player in your rig.  Earphones really cut down on your "situational awareness".  If you're worried about getting jumped or mugged while you're running you might want to skip the music.

Does it flop up and down while running?  I’ve used just a normal fanny pack and the thing bounced so much it drove me nuts.  Been on the lookout for a more stable platform.  Also I wore mine in front.  Seemed to move less than when it was in back.  Thanks.
