I just picked up a really good condition two-tone P89. Probably not the best deal at $250 ftf, but I've thought they were neat pistols for a long time and remember shooting one pretty well as a kid. Magazines: How are the Mec-Gar 20 round mags? Also, it is hilarious to me that people are 3d printing chassis frames for P series slides |

I actually put in on consignment once, about 2004, when I was getting into Glocks. LGS had it in the case for 2 months with no interest. Took it back, and am so glad I did. |

First handgun I ever bought after I hit 21 was a P85. Shot it for a while, got bored, traded for something else. Bought a P89 because I missed my P85. Got a concealed carry license and realized the P89 is big and heavy. Traded the P89 for a Sig P228 which I still have. I get nostalgic for the P89 but don't see myself buying one. My P85 and P89 were good handguns. No issues with them. Buy one. |

Maybe he only had a $20 on him but really wanted it, and this allowed him to get it. Maybe he does not need the instant gratification of getting it "now" like so many have today. Only difference between layaway and credit card is no interest on layaway (and if you pay card off monthly, none then either) and has to wait a bit to get it. Or maybe he does not have the budget at the moment for it, and layaway is what works for him. Why does it concern you how somebody pays for something? |

| Shot my new to me p95 the other day only one malfunction. Took it down after blasting it and the recoil spring and guide rod are not connected anymore. Also the pistol is filthy and some surface rust. Should I contact ruger about the guide rod not being captive anymore? The circular end that holds it all together kinda just falls out while disassembling. |

My first pistol, purchased shortly after I turned 21 in early 1994, was a Ruger P91DC. It was basically a P89DC, but in .40 S&W (or .40 Auto as Ruger marked it) with 11 round mags. I was solidly on the .40 bandwagon in 1994, having read a lot of articles in Guns and Ammo, and American Handgunner about how great it was. It was $329 new in 1994, and was all I could afford on my $6/hour job. I had it for a few months and then was involved in a frantic amount of gun buying and trading as the 1994 AWB approached. It was a causality. Five years ago or so I got nostalgic for my first ever handgun and found a used P91DC for well under $300. I bought it, and it is still in the safe. I took it out to the range a couple of weeks ago. It still runs like a top, and is surprisingly mild for a .40 S&W. I was going to shoot it at the local zombie match in a few weeks, but I only have two mags. I discovered after some internet shopping that the mags are basically unavailable. There are a couple of eBay for $90 each, couldn't find any others anywhere that didn't include a gun. So, I bought a cheap P94 .40 that included a couple of factory mags. If it arrives before the match, I'll use the gun in .40. If not, I also bought a cheap P89DC upper and some 9mm mags. Hopefully I can convert the P91 to a P89 for the match if all else fails. I'd rather shoot it in .40 though, it is more comical. Attached File Attached File |

| I got my first Ruger pistol from my neighbor last week. He is going into assisted care so I asked him any guns for sale? He said yeah, so I brought home a nice P89, a Browning Buckmark, a Squires Bingham .22 rifle, 3k of Winchester Wildcat .22 ammo, 750 rds of 9mm, all for 400. I've never gave Ruger 9mms a second thought, but I am intrigued by their beefy design. Their grip panels leave a lot to be desired in the looks category, I'd prefer a checkered wood panel. I have some Uncle Mike's on the way from Ebay. It came with 2 10 rd mags, and I see 15 rd mags aren't cheap. I got a wild hair and took one of my M9 mags and stuck it in. Oh, so close! Base plates are at a different angle, so just the front tab makes contact on the frame. I put a loaded mag in, held it in place, and was able to cycle all 15 rounds through the pistol. Then I cut a slot in the front of the mag to match the Ruger mag, and tried again. I may be onto something here. Next is some range time to see if I'm on the right track. |

Finally picked one up. Its was $300 at Cabelas. Looks barely used, came with box and 2 clinton mags. Fortunately, I have a fat stack of standard cap factory mags. Attached File |
