The original slide stop pin on my Springfield is .198" in diameter. The EGW Heavy Duty slide stop that I purchased to replace it measures .2005" diameter. Will it require fitting by a gunsmith, or is that close enough for a drop in fit?

Might work but it may not be a drop in.
It depends on how the tolerance of all your parts work out.

I just got a stainless Wilson stop that droped into my SA loaded.

What does the hole on your springfield measure? That will tell you all you need to know.

I've used both the Ed Brown Hardcore and Wilson Bulletproof slide stop and never have had to do any fitting. Both of these measure at .200 .
