Hey everyone.  I've been having problems shooting my subcompact lately.  I changed my grip to a thumbs forward grip which has greatly improved my accuracy as well as my follow up shot speed.  My problem now, however, is whenever my magazine is empty my thumb hits the slide stop and it closes the slide.  Anyone else have any problems with this?  Any recommendations to fix it?  I've tried changing my grip but that makes it somewhat uncomfortable.  I'll most likely just have to work on that but i'm wondering if anyone else has any recommendations.  Thanks!

Something like this, you're just going to have to work thru it yourself, IMO. Not sure why you'd have your thumbs that high/forward though.

Might post a pic of your grip & let's see what it looks like.

I'm having pretty much the same issue.  I've always shot thumbs forward, but I've recently started using a higher grip that tends to put my right thumb on top of the slide stop instead of below it.  I don't shoot my XD all that much, so i haven't really figured out a solution yet.

I didn't like the stock slide stop either.  I took mine out and cut about half of the ribs off of it.  That helped, but I also found that the outline hump on the frame was cutting into my thumb, so I ground that off too.  Feels a lot better now.  I'm gonna try to shoot it like that.  If it looks like I still need some improvement, pistolgear.com sells a really high and tight profile slide stop I can try.

adda dimple to the slide stop or get your thumbs away from the slide like dave s does on his glocks.
