| I have a Springfield Champion in .40sw cal. Sometimes when rapid firing the slide release will move to the up position and lock the slide back. Need suggestion on how to fix. TIA |
| Stop bumping it up with your thumb while shooting. The other option is it could be running a tiny bit too close to the bullet profile you are running, You are going to have to look at it and if it's touching a bullet you will need to file a tiny bit off of it to clear the bullet profile you have chosen. |

Did you happen to notice if it was all the way up or just enough to catch the slide? I have seen some that would just barely catch while firing and "fixed" it by lowering that flat surface where it engages the slide. (a little at a time) By doing that, you may void the warranty, but it's just a slidestop. If it's fairly new, I would call them for advice. Can't hurt. |
That's what works 98% of the time. Had to do it on my Springfield with a Wilson Combat Bulletproof slide stop. You just use a drill or a Dremel and make a tiny indent on the slide stop. You'll see a shiny spot on the slide stop where the plunger hits it presently, that's where the tiny indent goes. 1% of the time you have to relieve a small amount of metal from the hole in the frame where the slide stop contacts the follower to allow the slide stop to go high enough to lock the slide back. The last 1% is as Dave said make sure the bullets aren't hitting the slide stop 'inside' the frame. If they are you'll need to remove some metal there. |
