Picked up a BNIB unfired MAC JSOC yesterday. looked it over, took it apart and cleaned lubed everything. The Fit and finish on this pistol are real nice, and the tolerance between slide and frame are tight. Went to the range this morning and put 100 rounds of winchester 230gr through it. the first 5 shots grouped nicely a bit high and left at 10 yards. after adjusting the rear sight this thing was a tack driver. It ejected rather consistantly which I like... I haven't even played with the extractor yet. as a matter of fact I may just leave well enough alone and enjoy it as is for now... except the grips ... I will probably replace them.

I have one also, haven’t shot it yet, fit and finish is seriously good. I had a Tisas Stainless Match Pistol I bought during a clearance sale. I foolishly sold it & when I went to replace it was no longer available. This was the next best gun currently sold in a similar price range with most of the options I wanted. |

This was the next best gun currently sold in a similar price range with most of the options I wanted. yeh I have owned several Tisas 1911's... quality wise they were all ok... but your right about certain features I like too. The front strap is one, and the tight slide to frame fit is another... my other Tisas pistols got the parts makeover and trigger work... this JSOC trigger right out of the box is 4.5 according to my trigger pull scale... and the break is crisp not soft. |

I will probably replace them. Grips went right away. Pistol ran 100% and had a very good trigger but a Wilson sear spring gave me a crisp 3 pound pull. 500 round update... well I couldn't leave well enough alone as with my other 1911's... no permanent changes or mods to the pistol, and I have all the original parts in the case. the extractor was driving me nuts... after the first 100 it started ejecting everywhere, so I tightened it slightly then it started with failure to feed. so I got out the homemade gauges I have used before and set deflection and thought everything was good... it ran fine when a little loose but was still erratic on ejection, tighten it up and it jammed like it was holding the case too tight. I broke down and ordered a Wilson Combat bulletproof extractor and with very minor tweaking it runs and ejects consistently now. while I had everything apart I dug through the misc box and replaced the trigger, hammer, sear, dis-connector, sear spring, recoil spring(16#) and main spring(23#) a mix a Wilson Combat, NightHawk, and Ed Brown parts I had. Trigger pull is crisp and consistently breaks at 3.25 pounds. the action has smoothed out and has stayed tight... slide and frame rails have some shiny spots in the usual places and the barrel hood has started to look "Used"...in a good way.

The Tisas/MAC extractor is a rough shape. Mine had intermittent feeding issues once I shot lighter than 230 ball ammo I used the threads on Addicts to reshape mine on the hook and it worked very well with propper tension. Once I had some tuning done I had the smith fit and tune a Harrison extractor and now my reworked one is in the range bag for a spare. |
