| I am finally determined to get a P-320, but I am having difficulty in choosing between 9mm and 40 S&W, as well as between the full size and carry model. I like both calibers, but I do not have the ability to try one of these pistols prior to purchase. I suppose my question to members who own a P-320 in 40 S&W would be, if you had the opportunity to purchase another pistol, would you still choose the 40 or instead, go with a 9mm model? |

Believe that you would enjoy shooting the 9MM more - easier to shoot and I believe that the round is the sweet spot for performace, price of ammo and enjoyment of shooting.
Now I am a glock guy and have the 34 and 19 - had the baby 26 - but let it go to get the 34. I could shoot the fire out of that 26 - just enjoy the larger sizes better. Does that help? Red

I prefer 9mm (used to carry 40 s&w). Cost, work/personal carry and resale tends to lean more towards 9mm. I ended up getting a Carry, because I can easily decrease the size (pistol height) of the pistol with a simple frame swap. The full size leaves you with only that option without doing a slide/frame swap. I also wanted a pistol sized closer to the G19 and not the G17.
You can review the specs to see sizing variations. http://www.sigevolution.com/_includes/SIG-P320-Brochure.pdf |

I thought that you would swap the guts into any frame - you are changing the slides and frame out. the mags will work larger to smaller, but not the other way around. Red ![]() Compact and Carry use the same slide. Frame difference: Comp (5.3 Height) vs Carry (5.5 Height) Comp (15+1) vs Carry (17+1). A cheap quick change in height is a frame swap. If you want a larger change (i.e. Caliber/Sub Comp change), you'll need a kit. I forgot to mention magazine change. |

I have both calibers in my p320. Actually two guns. I really do not feel the difference when shooting. Ammo price wise it is the nine, unless you catch a sale at your LGS.
As far as grip moduals, I have them from the carry to subcompact. The carry is fun but the compact is more practicle. Subcompact is good for concealed carry. I prefer the compact for over all use.. Full size mags are good for over all use in all sizes. |

I was able to get to the range yesterday and shoot the P320. It had zero issues through 200 rds, but I was consistently hitting about three inches left of point of aim, regardless of how much I stressed proper grip and finger placement.
I like the trigger and I think it has a little shorter reset than my Glocks. The one thing I found odd, was the amount of felt recoil I noticed, especially for a 9mm. Not what I expected using Federal 115 grain aluminum cased and Perfecta 115 grain brass cased ammo. I am going to drift the rear sight a bit to the right and return to range next weekend. Overall, I am not as initially impressed with this pistol as I had hoped I would be. However, I said the same about my M&P45 when I first fired it, but it has become one of my best shooting pistols. Hopefully I will say the same about the P320 in time. |
