I just picked up a NIB PM9 and field stripped and lubed the slide. I noticed many similarities to the Glock slides. I am having a problem replacing the slide back cover over the striker spring guide and the extractor rear pin. Do I have to grow a third hand? I lost the striker spring 3 times but only found it twice, so I'm waiting on a replacement. I sure would like just a little hint on how to get this bad boy back up in place-so I can get to the range. |

So, you did a detail strip of the slide. I usually use the slide stop lever to keep everything in place. I then start the slideback then once its started press everything in and seat the cover to the extractor pin. Then take a precision screwdriver and press in the extractor pin and press the slideback all the way closed while removing the screwdriver. But I'm guessing you got that all figured out by now.

| I agree. i have over 8000 rounds through my pm9 and i have never had the upper slide apart. I use the high pressure non-cholorinated spray automatovie parts cleaners on all my handguns. I can blow out any crap in the firing pin channel or extractor area with this cleaner. It drys fast. Hell there is that small hole even in the bototm of the slide that allows the small spray tube of this cleaner to just shoot right into that channel and it comes out both ends of the channel. It has to be clean, Why take it apart. If it ain't broke don't fix it. a drop of oil at the back of the striker area and it will seek its own lubrication. the grip area I can spray clean perfectly with this cleaner and needs no further take down. One of the easiest handguns I have ever owned for cleaning.I have the dlc finish on myslide and the bottom of the slide shows absolutely no shinny spots of wear anywhere. What an amazine handgun IMO.. |
