| I've got a springfield lightweight operator, I love it, it shoots great. Yesterday i noticed something though...sometimes when i hit the slide release it drops the hammer to half cock without touching the trigger. So far its only done this without a magazine, never when actually loading. Anyone else ever have this? does it need to take a trip to Springfield? |

An easy fix for this is to remove the leaf spring in the back strap. Slightly bend the left finger towards the pistol. This will increase the tension on the sear. Don't bend it too much or it will increase your trigger pull. Also I have been told by many pistol smiths that dropping the slid on a empty chamber is bad for a 1911. |
