Just curious.  Why do you ask?

I had the GI and didn't like it very much.  I was comparing the manufacture of both Operators in the gun store today to the GI and my Kimber.  The rails on both Operators, viewed from the back, are cut in a superb manner when compared to either of my 1911's.  The overall craftmanship of either Operator looked to be of a much higher tier.

I believe the Operators are made in the U.S. My Loaded was stamped "Imbel Brazil" but my MC Operator is not.

All Springfield pistols start their lives in Brazil. The difference being that "NM" prefixed serial number guns were imported incomplete enough to get by with no serial number. This means the final machining was all done in America from an 80% (or lower completion) forging.

I believe all Operator frames come in as incompleted raw forgings.

One thing I forgot to mention is that I'm not sure if the same goes for the aluminum framed pistols.
