I just got a new Springfield MC Operator and when I was looking over the gun, I noticed the extractor is sticking out quite noticeably from the rear of the slide. I have had plenty of other 1911's, lots of brands including Springfields, and have never seen an extractor sticking out like this. It isn't loose as far as I can tell and I haven't shot it yet so I can't comment on the functionality but for an $1100 gun, it is pretty unappealing aesthetically. Is it an issue? Pics below:

My MC Operator looks the same. No issues with extracting. I also noticed the same thing on a Springfield EMP that I had.

If it shoots/eject empty casing fine, it is a cosmetic issue. Don't know what else you have, but all my Springfield production line 1911 has similar characteristics.

It is a pretty std thing with SA, one i wish they would spend a little more time with blending it in. Also, an overhanging slide on the rear is pretty std on anything below the TRP line.

As long as it is not functioning improperly, SA will most likely say it is within spec and not do anything under the warranty. My RO Is a little less than you MC but it still sticks out some. Has functioned fine since new.

I have a SS Loaded, parkerized Loaded, Range Officer, and full-rail TRP and none of them have any of the extractor sticking out. But if it's "within spec" I guess I'll live with it or have it addressed by the custom shop when I send it in.

It sticking out like that is a complete non issue.

Most extractors have to be "blended" to the rear of the slide. All that is being done is its being filed down to fit flush with slide.

Pure aesthetics is all that is going on there. Nothing that will effect function.

$2500 gun with an aftermarket extractor I fit due to the original not making the cut

It's fine, and not unexpected on a production 1911.

Only issue is visual.
