I picked up the Springfield Armory Range Officer on Saturday evening. I have wanted a 1911 since I was a kid (over 40 now) and finally found one that was priced right for my first one. I stripped it down and cleaned it Sunday morning. That was a learning experience for a guy who has owned Glocks for years. It took me a while but it's now ready to shoot. I will be going this Saturday to the range to try it out. Can't wait!

Good choice and congratulations. If I didn't already own a TRP I would have a RO myself. Of course, I could get one anyway. That is the ARFCOM way isn't it?

I'd add a lot more oil to the gun for the first 500 or so down range.

Congrats , I am in the same boat .I just picked up my 1st 1911 Saturday also after being a a Glockophile since 99. I got a great deal on a SA GI in great condition for $400 out the door . The Range Master is a sweet gun enjoy it.

I plan on picking a Range Officer as my first 1911 also here in a couple weeks. Finally I will have a handgun with some soul
