I have a Colt XSE ltw commander. If I top the mags off and have a round in the pipe. I can not get the mag release to work. I have to rack the slide and eject a shell for it to release. What gives?

What mags are you using? Are they the same kind and having the same malfunction?

Colt Factory mags. Yes both of them do it.

I suspect the release, but it could be the mag bodies or even the mag springs. Take it to the range/store if you don't have a friend with 1911 mags and see if you can swap mags to see if the problem persists w other mags.
