 Thanks! The M9 came first, found it used in Belton, MO when I lived in Kansas City. Then I started looking around online and soon had the Inox and the Storm carbine. The M9A3 was here in Lake of the Ozarks at a gun store I frequent in the pistol case and when I saw it, I mumbled "oh no...." as I knew I had to have it.  |

Wish all the services had bought into it as well. Would be essentially the same manual of arms plus a pic rail for lights. |

It was unfired in the box with the mags and accessories. Still had the “cigar band” on the grip. It’s been to the range a couple times now. I’ve got an original M9 as well. At the PD I work for, if you wanted an issued pistol (you can carry personally owned pistols, with some restrictions), you used to be issued a Beretta 92FS “Police Special”, which was a deal Beretta used to box up for PDs. Even though some of them were used and abused (one of the guys used to show up to quals with the barrel rusty, gun dry as hell and covered in lint and grime), they always ran and always shot well. Better, in fact, than some of the neglected Glock personal guns. When the PD went to Gen4 G22s for issued guns several years ago, I bought one of the spare 92s that had been fired little, if any. It had night sights that were completely dead and the gun showed no wear at all, aside from a few scuffs in the Brunton (or however the hell you spell it) slide finish from kicking around in the safe for however many years it was there. I bought it and 5 15rd mags for a whopping total of $200. I don’t shoot it much, but when I do, it is eerily accurate and reliable as hell. Admittedly, a little large in the grip for a 15rd 9mm pistol, but I have big hands and it feels great. DA is a little heavy, but is VERY smooth. SA is absolutely wonderful. After shooting it, I understand why they were so highly regarded. In fact, if I had to give up my M&P 2.0 personally owned duty pistol and was required to carry a DA/SA pistol, I’d feel perfectly happy with the 92FS. Aside from the size of the grip, the M9 seems to be a much better choice for a military gun than the P320. Admittedly, I never served and have no desire to do so, but the P320 didn’t make any sense to me from the start. If the military was dead set on a striker gun, Glock would have been a far better choice, especially given their history and longevity, and I hate Glocks. Going back to the M9 seems to me to be a good choice. |
