Anybody have a tip, trick, or technique to get a 24 lb spring into a Kimber with the take-down pin guide rod? I've been fighting this damn thing for two hours and I need a third hand!

ETA: Fucking airsoft pisses me off...I can't even search anywhere else without having to sift through all the airsoft bullshit.

Used a vice and held mine compressed with Channelocks.  However mine was a twenty two pound spring.

Come on now don't tell me you have never "improvised" a little?  Besides my vice has rubber pads installed!

What requires a 24 recoil spring?

That's what the was for.  I can't even imagine what it must feel like to shoot with a 22 or 24# spring.  If you have full length guide rod with a paperclip hole, try this.  Take the barrel out, install bushing (if applicable) and spring plug.  Insert spring and guide rod into backside of plug, push all the way, insert wire to hold it compressed.  Then install barrel and re-install everything else.  Assembling the recoil assembly with out the barrel in place helps a lot for the strong springs.  This is assuming your slide is cut so that you can insert the plug from the rear.

If you search my posts, you'll see that I do improvise.  But just a little....

My bad thought your ribbing me a little for the vice and chanelocks comment.  As far as the 22lb spring, my Tactical Pro II comes this way from the factory and it is not bad to shoot at all,I am very fond of it.
