[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Hi Power Problem

I just got an FEG Hi Power (yes it is the Browning clone). The problem is that it has a failure to feed about half the time. The FMJ seems to bind between the mag and the top of the chamber. It even does this when trying the load the first round by racking the slide. I am hoping and thinking it is magazine related and ordered two mec gar magazines to try and fix the problem. Any other things I should look at too?

Replacing the magazines with Meg Gars is a good start. You also may consider ordering a replacement recoil spring from Wolff Gunsprings. I routinely do this for almost all new (used) gun purchases. I am betting the new magazines will take care of the problem.

new springs and new mags would be my first move also.

Couldn't stand the wait for the new mags to arrive, so I start inspecting the old one. I took it apart and it turns out the follower was installed wrong. it wasn't pushing the nose up the ramp like it was supposed to. Works great now.
