How many rounds through gun? Most people say 5000 round is a good rule of thumb for replacing spring. Most guns can and will go a lot longer than that. What your pictures show look like normal wear patterns to me If the recoil spring is 1/2-3/4 shorter in length then a new one, it's time to replace it along with the FP spring. Don't care it it has 1000 rounds on it, it's bad. I err on the 1/2 side myself, recoil springs are cheap. |

It's not anything to worry about. The head of the guide rod is rubbing against the bottom of the barrel as it links down. If it bothers you, a few minutes' work with a chainsaw file can dress the top of the guide rod down so that they'll no longer contact each other. You can check fit by placing the guide rod and barrel in the frame together. If you don't do anything, the barrel will peen the guide rod head down until the offending metal is displaced, and it should stop.
The barrel link won't contact the back of the guide rod during normal operation, since the guide rod has a bevel cut on its rear to prevent this. |
| No idea how many rounds are through the gun, I bought it used from a guy probably about 7 years ago. I've probably put maybe 1,000 through it. I don't get out to the range near enough. The recoil spring is still pretty long. Does anyone know how long a new one is? |
