After long and serious debate on my next .45 caliber habdgun, I'm starting to take a closer look at the HK45 Compact. I have never owned and H&K and to the best of my memory I have never fired one either. I've been a Glock and Sig guy for years. Anyone have any opinions about this gun? Whats the ergonomics like? What is the DA trigger pull like say compared to a Sig? Am I correct that the HK45c can be carried in Single Action or Double Action mode?

What is the DA trigger pull like say compared to a Sig? Am I correct that the HK45c can be carried in Single Action or Double Action mode? I have owned 3 HK's, 2 were compacts. I still own and carry my Compact 45 all the time. I have never had one issue with any HK handgun I have ever laid my hands on. There is really no point in buying a full size because the HK Compact is really almost a full size gun in itself. It fits my hand perfectly and I would never hesitate to buy one. If you need to carry more rounds than 8 then I would just suggest buying a 9mm. It's been awhile since I have shot a sig, but I would say they are most likely comparable in most aspects in regards to the trigger pull. You can carry the HK45c in either single or double action. I say buy one, you won't be dissapointed. |
I have both the HK 45 and HK 45c. I use an HK (P30) everyday when i'm out at work. Anyone that has owned one will tell you it's the best gun you can buy everyone else is just jelous they don't have one or can't afford one. I have worked for two different defense contracting organizations since leaving the military and they both use HK firearms along with every other one I've looked into. Buy it...it will be your favorite handgun and it will actually hold some value.
I'm now heavily leaning towards buying the HK45c. For weeks I've been considering 1911's but after getting out and handling what is one the market today, i'm pretty turned off towards 1911's. Absolutely none of them suited me. The way I see it with the H&K I can satisfy my urge for a SA firearm in a package other than a 1911 and still have the DA option too. Also I suspect the H&K is much more reliable than many of the 1911's on the market today.
I was looking into purchasing an HK45C, so I rented one at a local range and put 100 rounds through it. VERY accurate. Did not care for the stupid painted sights, it needs night sights. No failures, even though it was a range gun. I bet they are typical HK uber reliable. I did not like the grip, they should have used the same type as the HK45 in my opinion. Too much muzzle flip for my taste, typical high HK bore axis. Very accurate, well built pistol, just not for me.
