2-21-25 update.  Hey fellow on Reddit ordered his and it took 26 days to arrive. Price is showing at $296 direct.

Gen3 front slide serrations

Quoted:

Glock is releasing Factory Gen 3 MOS slides this year. That's what I'd go for.

Was reported on Pistol Forum.

"Glock OEM Gen 3 MOS slides for the 19, 17, and 34. MSRP is $348 - includes internals, slide cover plate, and standard sights."

I'm not a MOS fan (unless direct mounting a SCS), but this is good news for California residents and all the clone builders.

Botach has them listed for just under $300 (I know, I know).

Think they could have sold an absolutely obscene amount of these 4-5 years ago when the polymer 80 thing was going crazy.
But it’s a step in the right direction from them at least. I’m sure they’ll still sell, but not like they would have years ago.
I would imagine at this point anyone who wanted an optic on a Gen 3 has had the slide milled or moved on to a newer Generation with MOS already.

What they ought to do is release a gen 3 slide with the new COA mounted. That’d get a significant number pf sales from the gen 3 knockoff crowd.

Assuming the COA isn’t a piece of shit, anyway.

Almost.  Cheapest I've seen the RXM was 347. Adding shipping and FFL fees with bump that up.

I bought my first one from grab a gun for $399 and they are already down to 369. I sold the slide off my first one on fired for $300 so I'm probably going to be picking up a second one soon.

But this is a good option for somebody who wants to be all Glock, all the time.  Offering the G34 version will definitely get some sales.

This will make me happy, every time I look at my gen3 22 that I converted to 9mm it makes me sad to see its .40 marking.

If I can get a 17 slide marked 9mm, than all will be right in my Glock world.

Why bother. MOS sucks. If you have a gen 3 and want a RDS just have it professionally milled for direct mount for around $150 and not have to deal with stupid plates.

Also, when you buy this slide now you have an extra slide sitting around. I guess you can sell the old slide to recoup some money. Plus now you have mismatched serial numbers.

At that point, you're adding $70+ to a $350 slide.

This can make sense if somebody wants to run an MOS optic (SCS or Gideon Granite) and they are assembling a new build.  Buy an optic, barrel, RSA and slap it on a frame.  The alternative would be spending $100-150 on a Remsport slide, $100-130 on a UPK, then having it milled.

OR, buy a Ruger RXM, sell the FCI and grip frame for $200 and come out ahead.

It's good to have options and that's the last people to stay 100% Glock.

Lots of people don't care about matching serial numbers.

But I agree, this is not the best for somebody upgrading their existing Glock.  This is better aimed at new builds.

Some people don't like mismatched serial numbers.

It seems silly to mark these if they're manufactured for parts sales.

Even if they have to mark them for EU (or country specific regulations), it seems they'll sell more than a few in the US.  Enough to make unmarked (serial numbered) slides.

A serialized polymer 80 is supposed to be a Glock clone, and it is, but it's still very different than a Glock. Not just in ergonomics, but in material quality, parts tolerances, metal finish, etc.

When I rack a Glock vs. a serialized polymer 80, there's a distinct difference in feel & smoothness. When I press down on the barrel hood, there's less movement in the Glock.

If you care about that sort of thing, inspect the Ruger carefully.

I'm getting bored with the G19. Everyone and his cousin makes a G19 clone. Even Glock makes numerous variations of the G19 with different grip lengths and other minor changes.

I think it's the law in Austria. Barrels and slides are controlled items. I don't think it matters if they are for export only. They need the SN when they are made.

Now if they were manufactured in the US, that would be a different story.

Here's my admitted over-thinking of why serial numbers can matter, specific to California :

We all know that the slide is not a controlled part, but not all LE do. I sold a take-off Glock slide online and it wound up at a crime scene, presumably on an otherwise unmarked 80% receiver. Being the only serial number on the gun, that was what was run through CA's registration database, and I got a call from my local PD asking if I still had the pistol. Buying a spare slide there would not be any registration (currently, although they are trying) so that should not happen again. Unless the feds were tracing the gun from manufacturer to dealer to purchaser.

Additionally, CCW permits in CA are serial-number-specific. If I have say a TLR7 on my CCW which hides the frame serial number, potential confusion could result from the only visible serial number on the gun being the mismatched one on the slide.

Anyway, that's just my baggage.

It might be a little paranoid, but this is why I don’t buy unkown used Glock parts.

That said I have an L### serial numbered barrel on several of my Glocks that don’t match the frame and it doesn’t bother me in the least, as they came direct from the factory. Zero chance it came from some Glock that later got listed as stolen.

Similarly I wouldn’t care that these have serial numbers, given they are coming directly from the factory.

That stuff absolutely happens. We've had numerous similar stories shared here about LE using the wrong numbers or having guns incorrectly entered because of things like slide serial numbers. I bet that even if it wasn't law a company like Glock would serialize them. Seems like a very Austrian thing to do.

I agree.

Wish PSA would make a G17 compatible slide for the p80v2.

I don't see why anyone would buy the G19 slides when you can get a complete dagger upper for way cheaper than just the slide and it will come with any kind of cut you want.

I would have ZERO reason to buy one of those slides only because of it being MOS, unless I was going to get an EPS or whatever goes directly onto that cut.

I’ve definitely had tolerance stacking issues with aftermarket parts. OEM is worth it to me as long as the price isn’t outrageous. My 19.3 was my first handgun and I’m a bit sentimental towards it, plus it has the frying pan finish so I don’t want to mill it. This is a good option for me in that case.

If this thing ends up around ~$200, or maybe even $225, it will be worth it to me.

Zero chance of that happening.

Botach is a listing them at just under $300. And there the scammiest, cheapest place around.  The chances of anyone selling them for less than that in the next 12 months are 2%, at best.

The Dagger slides?  You mean any kind of cut you want, as long as it is a shallow RMR cut.

Remember the MOS slides will be complete with all internal parts (not barrel and RSA).  That's a solid $100 value in today's parts market.
