Should I buy one?

Would be the only non 9mm Glock in the stable.

Kinda want one - but kinda think it would be redundant in terms of role.

Love mine, it's a tack driver.  Little big for any daily carry but it's a great gun.

I like this one better, it is very accurate.

most of my Glocks are 9mm and .45's.

Outside of 9mm, the G21 is my favorite. I have them in multiples too. Will have a gen 2 soon, and have a 21SF, and gen 4 on hand. The 21 was my first Glock.

They shoot EXCELLENT. Softest shooting .45's I've ever shot. Very accurate out of the box. They have never missed a bang either. Also have a couple 30 models too.
I like the 21's the best.

How does it compare to a standard 21? The 21 was my first Glock and it is almost too large for my hands (I take an XL glove).
I was thinking of getting a 21s but have heard the mags do not interchange. Is that true?
I now have two 30s gen three which will take the g21 mags

I have both a 41 and a 21SF. The mag situation is basically this: all Glock 21 series mags work in both,  but Gen 3 mags will not work in Gen 4 guns if mag release has been switched for left handed use. My 41 is a bit more accurate than my 21SF. Both are very manageable for 45s.

The width of the slide is the same as a Glock 9mm. Overall the gun is about the same size as a 1911. Since it is a Gen4, the frames is adjustable for reach via the replaceable back straps.

I very recently bought a new 19 and 21 SF, both Gen 4. I had 8 Gen 3 Glocks about 8-10 yrs. ago and my favorites were the 26 and 21 as well as a 38 and 39. The .45s were the softest shooting .45s I had ever experienced. That coming from a guy who spent a lot of money on 4 Colt 1911s that had been extensively customized by a top notch 1911 guy. I never really looked down on Glocks during those years but got caught up in the 1911 niche when I was old enough to afford them..

I am a Glock fan and have been since acquiring a few back in the late '90s

Sorry to get off topic, but I really appreciate the 21's soft shooting and accuracy, relative cheap price and the ability for me to do work I would never attempt on a 1911.

I heartily recommend the 21. I alternately carry the 19 and 21 daily. Being a bigger than average Gorilla allows me to do so w/o noticing which gun I have on.

The 21SF is a gen 3 BTW.....

The 21 gen 4 is same size as the 21SF WITHOUT back-straps.

I own a G21, G17, G19, G26 & G43, the 17 & 21 are totally unnecessary but I wouldn't dare sell either, I say get it!

I like the 41 the slide is much thinner.

I have a G21SF.3. Wish i would have got the 17.4 for commonality of mags and ammo with my 19.3.

Other than that and price of ammo I love shooting it. Mine wears a TLR1 in a bravo concealment kydex OWB under a tee shirt.

Buy it.

I've had all 45s (Gen 3) for a couple years. I felt the yearning for a 9mm so I bought two Gen 4 19s. Now I buy ammo.

I carried one (G21SF) on duty for years, and purchased it when we went to G17.4s

The G21 is by far my favorite .45 to shoot. The recoil impulse is so light it feels like a 9mm, and in my experience they are very accurate.

I do have a Operator 1911, but I still prefer the G21 for .45

Hell yes you should buy one.  Tell me how you like it as it is about the only Glock other than 10mm I don't have.

I bought one late last year with a distributor - special nickel finish on the barrel and slide.  Didn't ultimately care for the slide in nickel, but got the idea to have it redone by Jagerwerks and let the barrel show through.  Added a Zev trigger and Dawson sights and this is now my favorite handgun.  I load slightly soft .45 loads (185gr XTP's over 4.6gr Bullseye) and the felt recoil on this is amazing.  I took a buddy to the range a couple weeks ago who had never fired a gun, and started him out using this and he did quite well with it also.

I would highly suggest the G21.  In hindsight, I think I might have liked the SF, but I've never seen one in person to compare.  The grip (even without any backstraps) is pretty fat, and I've had a 30 for years that I'm used to.

It's obviously the one in black -

I too am in the market for a 45 and have considered the 21. I thought I recalled that the 21 wasn't as good as a Glock could be... And I thought I got this notion from arfcom GD.

Any idea why someone would talk bad about a 21?

I bought a Gen4 21 a couple years ago(got it priced right) and before that I never thought I would have one, seemed big and bulky, after putting a few rounds through it I really started to take to it, would probably buy another given the chance.

Most of that nonsense comes from the 9mm master-race mentality.  There also have been complaints of the grip size on the 20/21

As usual, take everything you read in GD with a grain of salt.  I stay out of that cesspool...

I have only one complaint about the G21 and it is. It the grip size.  My complaint is as the pistol runs dry the balance of the pistol gets awkwardly top heavy.  I actually shoot my G21 quite well but I wish Glock would lighten the slide and make a slide like the 41 width but 21 length.

That added mass is what keeps the recoil so manageable.  I shot a 41 and was not impressed, the recoil impulse seemed more pronounced on the 41 than the 21.

I know nothing of this. It's known to be a bad mofo. There are torture tests on google and YouTube. I've owned 3, still have 2, only complaint was my early Gen 4 gave me extreme brass to face but it started correcting itself after 1.5k rounds. I'm talking dodging your own hot brass while trying to stay on target. It was a common issue with many Gen 4s for different reasons I've read.

Edit: only reason I got rid of one was so the ex wife couldn't fight me for it at the divorce. Really wish I could find the guy and buy it back. This was like 8 or 9 years ago, around the time the SF came out.
