I'm sure it's a common problem, but my buddy has a Gen 2 G22, and I went over there to show him how to handle/clean everything, and we couldn't strip the damn thing.

Did the grip, racked the slide and pushed the takedown, and the slide moves about an inch and stops cold. And yes, it had been dry fired. I've taken them down before and never had this problem, but another friend has a bitch of a time taking down his 2nd Gen. G22 as well.

Is there something I don't know, or I'm not doing, 'cause he'd really like to clean his pistol.

Rack to clear, pull trigger, pull slide to rear about 1/8", push down takedown lever, should come off.

This is where the gun locks up. I have followed every step to field strip the weapon, and it simply gets stuck; even though it's been dry fired and every other step followed to the T.

Is there a step between that image and the slide being off the frame or should it just slide off cleanly? It isn't.

Just pull it off the frame.  Sometimes it just needs some oomph!

If it has a NY trigger spring you have to pull the trigger again as you are moving the slide forward.  That should fix the problem.  Hope this helps.

Beat me to it.  At that point of slide travel, pull and hold the trigger to the rear, and continue to move the slide forwardl.

My Glocks have NY1 springs in them, this is what I have to do to remove the slide.
