| Has anyone done the frame swap on an older model GLOCK? I've heard they will replace an older model frame for a 3rd Gen for a fee. Anyone have the details? |
| I called Glock back before Christmas. I was looking to replace my older G30 for a frame with rails. I don't remember the exact price, but I think it was $200 plush shipping both ways. You have to ship your whole pistol, not just the frame. Called customer service and told them what I was looking for and they connected me to who I needed to speak to. He was able to look and tell me what frames they had in stock too. |
$200!?!?!?! WTF?!?!?! I sent them an old early 2nd Gen G19 last year and they completely rebuilt and refinished it for $60. |
And your point is? |
My point is that comparitively, $200 for a frame swap seems unreasonbly high. |

I just got mine back. I had the frame replaced on my 21 and it cost $155.00. My 17 would have been $150, but decided to keep it stock 2nd gen and got it back in 2 weeks (firing pin upgrade etc.) and only had to pay shipping. The 21 took about 5 weeks, because they had to modify the slide, since it had the older 90 degree extractor. I found Glock to be very helpful, but every once in a while you get somebody who seems to have no clue. The only complaints I have, are they were supposed to refinish the slide and they didn't and they lost the four mags I sent in. I called about the mags and they are sending me four new ones and just noticed the slide today, so I don't know what I am going to do about that yet. Might send it out and have it done up in tan. I am sure Glock would refinish it, but I don't want to send it back. They told me to send in my mags to get new springs and followers, but they replaced them completely. I also asked about an SF frame and one guy said they can't because it is a totally different weapon (obviously had no clue) and the last guy said they could, but didn't have any. In addition, they replaced every internal part with the exception of the barrel. Not bad for two weapons, close to 15 years old. Forgot to add I only had to pay to ship it to Glock, they paid the return on both. |
