I already picked up an old Colt slide for a retro build. http://i820.photobucket.com/albums/zz125/Shot_To_Hell/12735934_10208444488012088_846065557_n_zpsfhizadqz.jpg I couldn't make up my mind, so I went ahead and ordered a set of Elk grips too. Quoted:

That's a nice first Colt! Believe me, it won't be your last! I already picked up an old Colt slide for a retro build. http://i820.photobucket.com/albums/zz125/Shot_To_Hell/12735934_10208444488012088_846065557_n_zpsfhizadqz.jpg Quoted:
Thats a beautiful gun. Both the Burl and the Ivory look great but beautiful blued guns should wear ivory. I couldn't make up my mind, so I went ahead and ordered a set of Elk grips too. Personally, I wouldn't mess with the Clapp pistol. Way too nice and already fitted. There are plenty of old Colts that could be parted out for a retro build using your slide. ( I would consider stripping the slide, polishing the flats to a 6-800 grit and finishing to match the frame.) Retro, to me, is black oxide soaked in oil, w/o a beavertail or an extended thumb safety. If the Clapp is running perfect and shooting like you want, leave it be! Thattsa very nice pistol! |

I'm not putting it on the Clapp, I'm going to build another one. I meant that in regards to this not being my last Colt, I already have another one planned. |
