I have a Mark VII matte black 44 mag Desert Eagle. For a while now, I've been having some serious issues with brass extraction. The spent case is not ejected by the extractor. It is simply left in the chamber. Thus, when the slide comes back and picks up another round, you've got a live round butted up against the empty shell. I've tried 3 different types of ammo, so I figure that isn't the issue. No lead has ever been put thru the weapon. I only have one magazine, but due to the nature of the failure, I don't think it has anything to do with it. It would likely feed properly if the spent shell was out of the way. Can't see it being limp wristing, since it is picking up the next round, but can't feed it due to the un-extracted shell in the chamber. I cleaned the crap out of the weapon, including under the extractor and the ejector. When it does work, it has a tendency to throw the brass back at me. The weapon has aprox. 500 - 1000 rounds thru it. I'm thinking the weapon needs a spring kit. Or possibly a new extractor claw. I checked the claw for damage, but could find none. If the spring is too weak, it might not be engaging the rim enough to extract, and when it does, the tension isn't enough to kick it away from the pistol. So, it ends up in my face. Opinions before I spend 50 dollars for a spring kit? PS, does anyone have any good pictures of the Titanium Carbon Nitrate finish? Not the gold one. I'm considering a refinish in something new. -Steve |

Agree about sending it back.. But my 6inch .44 Mag setup had problems with low powered Ammo. I bought quite a bit and still problems, I sent it back and they changed springs but still had problem. Once I shot 275 grain Rem Core-loc hunting ammo, it functioned fine. I later work out that it need more umph... I reload my .44 to get out above 930 FPS, it works everytime, I am hoping it will shoot other low poer once I shoot enough to break in the springs and the gun. A friends 10 inch Barrel shoots anything, due to the longer barrel. I like the shorter barrel. My .50 setup works fine since the factory ammo from IMI and Speer is loaded just fine for my short 6 inch barrel in that too. REloading on desert eagle is a way to go, you will save a lot on .50 and .44 re-loading once you find that right loading for it. The brass last long time too! |

Hey Stevenb, I have the same problem with mine I emailed Magnum Reseach! No Help, let me repeat No Help! and for the knob who says ask your gun dealer you might as well ask him what chip in your TV you need to replace to take care of the vertical hold! If he doesn't have a Desert Eagle and used it all the time he don't know Jack. I replaced my bolt assembly and new extractor still had problems. This is why I asked Magnum Research, I thought maybe the springs could be an issue also. I gave them the breakdown of my reloads. But like every other manufacture they don't recommend reloads! altho they couldn't tell me if my reloads were the problem just washed their hands of it, so "F" them. I will continue to trouble shoot this and let you know if I find anything out, as well if you find out anything let me know. This gun worked for many rounds just fine never any problems until one day then nothing but intermiitent problems with leaving the spent round in the chamber. Oh and for those who have a Desert Eagle and want to add their two cents, if you haven't shot more than twelve rounds thru yours (or your buddies) shut "F" up |
Having a bad day were we? So, did you change your springs or not? |
Hey Bub, Not having a bad day, it's the same as usual, thanx for asking tho ! No I didn't change the springs nor did I say I did. I just was making a point that alot of people think "gun shops" are the answer, but most are nothing more than "gun show geeks" that had some spare change and bought or fell into a store. I wouldn't let them install a rear sight on my kids Daisy Red Ryder BB gun! |
