I just got a New Eclipse Pro II with the external extractor. I had heard good and bad about this and looks like Kimber went back to the internal extractor. What has been your experience with the external extractor, and what problems should I be on the look out for. Thanks Joe |

Kimber went back to the internal extractor because the external extractor was too problematic. Many Folks experienced continuous failures to extract with the external extractor. Those that didn't experience it from the start often reported the problem occuring around the 2000 to 3000 round mark. Good Luck. |

Thanks SGB, the price was right and thought I would take a chance on it. Only had time to run about 25 rounds through it and it was ejecting cases at different angles. This is one of the tighter slide to frame fits I have seen in a while, looks like it will take more than a couple hundred rounds to break it in. Thanks to the forums I had an idea that there might be issues, at least it sounds like Kimber is pretty good about making it right if there is a problem. Joe |
| My understanding is Kimber will replace your slide for free. Give them a call and see what they say. Of all the external extractor 1911 in the market, Smith & Wesson seems to be the most reliable one. I didn't have the misfortune to own SIG GSR or Kimber with external extractor, and have hear enough bad ju-ju to steer me away from them. Still a happy owner of a Kimber Custom Eclipse II and a Gold Combat, both using internal extractor and has being very reliable for me. |
