I like these threads but sadly only the 10 guys who shoot here will do it. I will try to shoot this next trip. BTW - I think it works better if you modify the drill/target to be something simple to draw on or use an IPSC cardboard for. Most people don't have B8 laying around. For Example, I'd measure the 10 ring (approx 3.5 inches) and just prescribe it as a pass/fail within that circle. I think you'll get more takers. |

This focuses a bit more on speed over accuracy, but 5-6" is arguably good accuracy for COM hits in a self defense situation. Quoted: also 7 yards might be better as thats what most ranges are setup for. Most of these drills are trying to focus on a few specific skills (I think this one focuses on reloads too much though, but a really good drill if that's something you need to work on). You are probably better off keeping to the spirit of the drill rather than the letter of the drill. |

I think a small paper plate would suffice. Walmart 6" paper plate $5.18 per 100 |

IDK, it looks like a useful drill for overcoming any fumble-fuck habits in reloading even if you can’t make the stated par time. At least it would get you focused on honing your technique. |

Quoted: Might also help if COF was in the thread. Does the first image not show? COF is: B-8 repair center 8 yards. Par time: 8 seconds Start holstered, w/ 4 rounds in gun, and 2 spare mags w/ 2 rounds each. At start signal, draw & fire 4 rounds, reload & fire 2 rounds, reload & fire 2 more rounds. Add up points on target. Simple. There is no GO or NO-GO, or levels, just working toward the max, 80 points in 8 seconds or less, which I've never been able to do. But like any other drill, it's a fun challenge to work towards, to gauge your own skill, and see what areas you need work on. This drill highlights: The draw Rapid-fire control Reloads And arguably, a higher degree of high-speed accuracy than drills using an 8" circle/A zone. |

Outstanding runs, both of you guys! That's the fucking way! 2ndtimearound, I am thoroughly impressed, that's the closest I've ever seen anyone get to maxing it out. Those times are crazy. Yeah, I agree that the reloads are the kicker in this. I'm always doing them from concealment. I think I might try this one out of the bat belt at some point. I do NOT agree that the shooting part is easy, you are obviously a better shooter than I. My splits have to be around .35-.40 to guarantee high accuracy with this, if I speed up to .20-.25's, I'm sloppy. |

My splits have to be around .35-.40 to guarantee high accuracy with this, if I speed up to .20-.25's, I'm sloppy. Don't overthink it. You can shoot at a comfortable pace if your gun handling is adequate. Break it down- 1 shot draw, 2 shots off a reload leaves 5 shots. 1st shot draw @ 1.5 shots 2,3,4 @ .40 split (1.20) = 2.7 reload @2 = 4.7 split @.40 = 5.1 reload @ 2 = 7.1 split @ .4 = 7.5 (I think my math is right) I was a quarter second slower than that and 1.5 draw and 2 second reloads are not going that fast. Granted, closed garment concealment for 2 reloads is a killer. But out of a regular belt rig even with open front garment, it is totally doable. For a closed garment run at this try 4 R 4 @ say 5 or 6 second par time. In my early USPSA days I shot a lot of single stack & production and I sucked. So there was a lot of wholesale reloading going on. FFWD a few years & my vision went and I moved to open with 28-30 round mags so reloading wasn't an issue. Today I shoot CO/LO for fun and to maintain the skillset I have left. I don't try to "compete" but I usually have more folks below me than above me in the final scores. I've been on ARF since 2001 and always wondered why there wasn't a drill or training group. Keep putting up drills and I'll keep playing. I get that most folks have jobs & kids & can't shoot in their yard and ranges are restrictive but it is what it is. Thanks for taking the time. |

Shot it over lunch. Ran my carry gun (P365) from appendix without a cover garment. The shot timer on my phone was being shitty I think because I shot from inside my pull barn. Accuracy was good with a score of 77, but time was slow at around 12.5 seconds. Overall I was happy with my shooting, but my reloads on the small P365 were garbage since the mag barely sticks out of my mag holder. That tells me where to practice. ![]() Good drill! Thanks for sharing. Need to buy an actual shot timer. Attached File Attached File |

Quoted: Wow. Not one single taker. Sad! I haven't shot pistol since fall, so we'll see how it goes... Update: This drill is harder than it sounds for sure! I got really rusty during this winter apparently! ![]() I tried 4 times. Here's the results. I counted outside of the 8 ring as zeros. Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File |

Absolutely! I too need to work on my grip. Poster above is right, when he says "don't overthink it". That's often my issue, trying to hard, instead of just relying on good index, and point-and-shoot. But my index suffers during periods of lack of dryfire & holding drills. |

Just used the closest target I could find that resembled a b8. Attached File Attached File Ran it a second time with full mags trying to game the reload and shot 4x4x4 like a maroon. Once that beep goes off the brain sometimes goes on vacation. |

I'm the same way. One of the things I get out of shooting alot of different drills, & new ones, is just that:they make me think. In addition to the time pressure & mechanics of the fundamentals, I'm forced to keep straight in my mind what the routine of the drill is. The 10-8 Pistol Drill is a great example of that. Hardest part of that 65 rounds for me is remembering what I'm supposed to do each string. |
