| I've been looking for a New Python but all I see are used ones. Just wondering if Colt still makes this Model? |
|
Unfortunately, about a year ago Colt discontinued ALL double action revolvers, apparently forever. If you want a Python, better get busy and find a NIB model before the price gets TOO high. Apparently, Colt will never again make the Python, word of this is out, and prices are skyrocketing. |
|
you can find NIB ones on the net. just be aware of the prices and what youre buying. There are alot of them out there and you shouldnt have any problems finding one you like unless its a 3" barrel version or something unique. my LGS has one that i get first chance at. someone brouht it in with some other toys and its in real good condition. if it had the box and stuff i would say NIB. in any case, im going to get it. |
Wow, that is too bad that Colt is stopped making their DA revolvers. I'm glad that I got my 6" brush SS Python years ago. I also got an example of 6" blued Diamondback in 38spl and 22LR, very were very sweet shooting guns. |
| Still listed on their website www.coltsmfg.com/cmci/Python_C.asp |

I know, but Colt is terrible about updating their web site. A member of the 1911 forum was given a tour of the Colt plant earlier this year, and the production manager who posts on the site explained about the cancellation of all the DA revolvers. Here's a link to the details on the tour: members.aol.com/lmanwebdesign/ColtTour.html |
If you go to the main webpage at www.coltsmfg.com/ is no longer a link to the Python Elite. I think this is an obsolete link/page. After initially hitting Colt's "splash page," there is no mention of the Python Elite in the subsequent pages. So bye-bye Python. |
The people in the machine shop probably thought this is a nice joke. |

Colt no longer offers ANY Double Action revolvers of any type, including the Python. You don't have to spend $2000 on any Python, certainly not one in poor condition. Python's in excellent to new condition are going for an "average" of $800 to $1000 most places, with even better deals found locally on occasion. |
| I bought a 6 inch that looked new but with no box about a year ago, 1000. Today, I found an 8 inch in excellent condition for 850. with the beat up box. Both are blue. The 6 inch was made in 1978 and the 8 inch was made in 1980. I found both of mine local but I see them on gunbroker.com occasionally. Good luck. |
