I would like to try my hand at building a handgun.  What kits are available?

Several places carry 1911 parts minus the receiver.  I think Sarco is one.  Otherwise you can build an AR or AK pistol

you could build a glock style pistol using parts from lonewolfdist.com

not sure on the current availability of their frames.

'building' a glock probably isn't much of a test of skill/workmanship, but you'll have a great shooting, reliable, unique pistol at the end of it.

As has been mentioned, Glocks and 1911s can be built.  You can get a CCF frame and slide or LoneWolf frame and slide and install Glock factory parts in it.  This wouldn't be too difficult.

You can build a 1911 as well, but that's a much more involved proposition.  ALL PARTS in a 1911 are hand fitted.  You'll need a few specialty tools and a lot of patience.  If done right, however, the end result will be nothing short of spectacular.

If you have been following along it's time for part five, fitting the trigger, sear and hammer components. The first thing I do is closely examine each part, deburr all holes in the hammer and sear with a small counter sink bit.
