Looked and did not find (probably me) is there a thread that describes the DAK (pros and cons) and such?
I have a P220, looking for a compact for the wife and I like (thjink) the idea of the DAK. |

Well no technical data, but we switched from the Beretta M9 (92FS) with the DA/SA trigger to the Sig P22R DAK in .40. My fiance doesn't shoot anywhere near as well with the double action trigger as she did with the M9 in single action. It seems the longer trigger pull amplifies the errors in her shooting technique. I guess I need to get her more practice. |

I liked the idea until I tried one in person. The pull is very long and the reset is also very long. Some people swear by it, and though I love the idea of having one steady pull for every shot, the DAK just didn't feel right to me, You do know that you don't have to let the trigger go all the way forward to reset it? You only have to release the trigger less than half way to get a short pull. After training with the DAK I actually prefer it to DA/SA and DAO Beretta 92 and 96 that I have. Now there is a pistol that has a long reset in DAO! |

Just say no to DAK! Most SIG's have a very nice single action trigger pull (I know mine does). With DA/SA you get to experience this after the first shot (unless you have a chance to manually cock the hammer). With DAK (even though it is somewhat better than the normal DA pull) you always have to live with the mediocre long double action trigger. There really is no upside! Like I said, "just say no to DAK!" MAX |

I have to wonder if the detractors of the DAK in this thread actually trained with the DAK or just messed with it for a few minutes at a gun shop or range? Would I rather shoot a SA 1911? Hell yeah! However, the DAK isn't bad. The DA pull is better than any other SIG that I owned or shot and the short reset isn't bad at all when you are actually shooting. This pistol isn't designed to punch out X rings, it's designed for fighting.
I guess there is one thing to keep in mind, for years I was regulated to carry a Beretta 96D, which has a very LONG pull. After shooting them, anything seems better! |

I was looking at the trigger on the 239 SAS and compared it side by side with Glocks and LEM's. |

Don't know what to think about the responses. The design seems good to me, only pulled in store, though. Guess I will have to rent one if I can to know. For a wife gun,it seems good, but the pull may be too large. Will let you all know when I shoot it.. Thanks I think you're making the right move. Please report back on how it shoots! |
| The Michigan State Police just switched from the 229 SADA to DAK. It was a management decision and the troops are very unhappy with the DAK. Their shooting scores have dropped considerably. Also some of our smaller troops I.E. female types are haveing troubles with the long trigger pull and the amount of strength needed for multiple shots. FWIW griffy |

Thanks When you do go to the store, and dry fire it, remember to hold the trigger to the rear and cycle the slide. That way you can check out the short trigger too. For dry fire practice using the long pull, you can "pre cock" the gun with the trigger by slightly pulling it back then releasing it then finally pulling all the way through. Many people when they check out the trigger pull the trigger on a un-cocked gun and then complain about the trigger pull. Having the gun "cocked" is a realistic way to check out the trigger. When shooting the gun with loaded ammo, the gun will always be "pre cocked". |

Thanks, Henny. Will do. Where at in Pa? Steeler fan? My fam is from the Lancaster area. Thanks again. Be Well. Just about in the middle of the state. Steeler fan? Yeah, I pretty much have to be, dad has always been a fan and my wife is from the Pittsburgh area. I'm living about a hour and a half north of Lancaster. However, I was stationed in Lebanon County many moons ago and when my son was young he loved going down to Lititz to the pretzel factory. |
