I went to the range with a friend and he pulled out a 30 or so year old Colt Python .357 that he has never shot.  Any general ideas of value?  Assume the gun is perfect.

Thanks, and I apologize if I posted this in the wrong area.

I'm no expert but I have one in Fair condition.
I'd venture a guess that your friends is worth bare minimum $1200, maybe as much as $2000?

If the gun has never been shot by any one, unfired, AND he still has to orginial box, paperwork, etc, then it's worth a mint.  If it's been fired at all but is still in 100% condition then we're talking about $1000 to $1500, depending on the gun's specifics and the buyer.  Check to Blue Book of Gun Values for accurate info.

I saw only two Pythons at the gunshow this past weekend, an 8" model marked $4200 (nice condition but don't know why it was so high) and a six inch model marked $1400.

I am not into revolvers but I was scoping out Pythons for a friend.
