Purchased new in mid 90"s, supposedly a limited run?
Does it have any value?
Gun shoots well , I removed the rubber grips and went with walnut double diamond panels.
I'm not sure if I should keep it (can't have too many 1911's) and buy a new pistol with the goodies I want or turn it into a project gun?
I handled a Double Star yesterday that's calling my name, don't know much about them though.
Comments are appreciated.

I would not trade the colt for a double star.

It's basically a budget Gold Cup.  It lacks the sear depressor lever but everything else is pretty much Gold Cup.  I'd swapped something for one a while back and sold it a couple years ago for $700.

It was only made in '96 and '97 as I recall.

Yes, the photo is spot on, mine has walnut double diamond grips that I added.
I purchased it new in 1996.
It doesn't feel nearly as tight as my Series 70 GC but does shoot well; I've shot some IPSC matches with it.
It look as if I'll keep her.
Now to figure what to get next?
Thanks

You may want to move up to at least a 16 # recoil spring.  Mine had a 14 # spring in it from the factory; supposedly to shoot softer target loads.   That's about the only thing it really needs, IMO.

Yes, I put a Wolff 18.5lb spring in it; I run 230gr. Ball through it.
No sense in beating up the gun.
Thanks
