Hmmm, info on my pistol... Well, I haven't paid attention to her in years. Put it together for my wife a few years back, pretty much forgot about it, and it's languisehd in the safe forever. It's an FNMI Hi-Power, has some Heinie Straight Eights milled into the slide, stippled front and back straps, C&S hammer, C&S sear, C&S trigger, Wolff springs, radiused and polished extractor, a little bit of feedramp work, cleaned up breechface, a light dehorning, and a matte blue job. It's had Esmeralda French walnut grips on it for a long time, and I actually got the grips as a gift from my wife for my Hi-Power, but I posted the pics on her gun because her Hi-Power is much nicer than mine.
I have to say I love Gunners more than anything else, at least from a functional standpoint. Now that VZ offers some color combo's, I may get a set from them. I like these though because of the cool color variations. Hogue initially sent some tan ones by mistake, and those, while less contrasting, were way cool. These grips are now back on my other Hi-Power, but I didn't want to showcase these nice grips on such an ugly gun. |

It looks even nicer with the Esmeralda grips on it. I did the work, but it's been years since I've had the time to tinker much on guns. Once I get a milling machine at home I hope to be back at 1911 and Hi-Power tinkering. Things like work and family keep getting in the way.

Pretty nice looking, looks like they wouldn't be rough in peeling one's under belly if tucked in the pants. Yes indeed, they are not going to kill your gut. I used to carry a .40 BHP with Gunners. The gun was awesome, but I carry appendix and it left scratches all over my belly, and that was after I had sanded them. Gunners rule, but these are a nice alternative. |
