| with 20LPI checkering? or any LPI of checkering? Cocking serrations dont give that great of a gripping surface sometimes and the 20LPI on my Pro is grippy as hell no matter the conditions. Was just wondering if anyone has ever built a 1911 with checkering there instead of serrations. |

If you buy a slide/pistol from a custom or a relatively liberal semicustom outfit, I imagine you can get it done there, but you may have to wait for an untouched slide to reach their hands, and there might be special tools/PITA involved raising price.
How much experience do you have with the various cocking serrations? Classics grab neatly IMO, but I can see an issue for certain people or conditions (wet). Another thing that I don't like about them is the fine edges can errode with rust, which is a reality despite maintainence with daily CCW use. I suspect that was part of the reason why many companies have opted for the wider angled cocking serrations. Even wet or muddy fingers can gain traction with the deeper wider grooves. The only drawback is they aren't half as pretty or clean looking as classics. So if you can't find checkering (on your budget) you might want to try you hand at some different styles of CS to see if one works better for you. |

My grip doesnt slip often I was just casually shooting the other day and went to clear the gun and it slipped, which got me thinking about alternatives to CS.
During full speed drills I cant remember the last time I slipped, but it has happend, and was thinking that slipping could be dangerous in a bad situation. |
