Picked up a limited edition M9, the original steel guide rod was bent, so I've got a standard polymer one in there now, but am looking for a replacement. These used to be available everywhere on gunbroker and ebay, but all I can find are aftermarket stainless rods(even if some are black nitrided). At one point they were available from beretta directly, but not it appears the only way to get a correct one is to buy the $100 steel parts kit, as their standalone model either comes as nitrided model, or the stainless model with the following purchase note: UPC: 082442718972 Note: (Please note that the spring is now longer than the one originally offered, but is the same weight, and should ease use. Due to supplier changes, the rod and spring may be chrome, stainless, or black in color. Color differences do not affect performance). Does anyone know if there is a source, or have a lead on the original carbon steel guide rods? |

Last I checked, Beretta sold a kit on their website to replace all the plastic 92 parts with steel parts, including the recoil spring guide. | I might not be answering your question as it sounds like you're trying to keep the gun "stock" but if all else fails and you really want a steel guiderod the Wilson Combat flat-wire recoil spring comes with a metal guiderod, though it is definitely NOT stock. I have one and like it. The flatwire spring is supposed to be basically immortal but I wouldn't know as I replaced mine with a new one when I re-built my 92 at 5000 rounds. By rebuilt I mean all new springs and new locking block. |
