I picked up one of the 92XI Combat model in Frog Skin. I absolutely love it. So much I just bought a Tiger Stripe 92 XI as well. I love the single action and the trigger is great. I have shot 92FS's (M9's too) since being in the Navy and frankly always wished they had as frame mounted safety. I had tried a Taurus frame mounted safety but didn't like the fact that it could de-cock it as well. So, the 92XI is perfect for me. I just tore the center of the target to shreds at 15 yards in about a one second cadence. If you love 1911's and I have several high-end ones, you'll love the 92 XI. Or maybe not, I do! |

When I screwed on the fart can and the slide is forward I noticed I can move the barrel more then expected up and down. Ive seen arms room M9s with barrels so loose they shot way low, because the muzzle drooped so much. You could move the muzzle in a small circle with your finger. |

So I have me one of these coming. I will be picking up the beretta compensator. I was thinking about also picking up the mag well, but I have a question about it. It comes with two new baseplates for the mags and from what I read, they fit the factory and mec-gar (18 round) mags. My question is, will the mag well require all the mags to be swapped over the the new baseplate, or will standard 18 round mec-gar mags still fit and work? I have a 92FS I have had for a few years and I have a pile of mec-gar 18 round mags. If I can not use the standard mags with the mag well, then I will pass, as I do not want to replace every mag baseplate I have, and I do not want to relegate a couple mags to use just for the XI. |

Guess I will be the one person who does not like the 92XI. I bought one, put 200 rounds through it and then sold it last week. Fit and finish compared the Italy or MD made models is very poor. The grip fells small, almost tiny in my hands. Like WTF, why does this thing feel so small. I compared it to my 92FS and see the backstrap is straight. That is why it feels so small. I do not have large hands (I wear medium gloves) but it feels small to me. Uncomfortable. Trigger pull for being single action sucked. Lots of take up, stiff, gritty, creepy. The SA pull on my 92FS is much better. The safety sucks. It is stupid hard to engage and disengage. I am not a weak person, but it was almost everything my thumb could do it engage and disengage it. Never in my life have I felt a safety so stiff. The flat face trigger sucks balls, but I was planning on swapping it out if I kept the gun. The bore looks like they used the worst and roughest rifling button they had in the scrap bin. Accuracy sucked. I use a piece of printer paper with a 2in sticky dot at my targets. Cheap and easy. It would struggle to keep all of the shots on that piece of paper at 18 yards. My 92FS using the same ammo kept it all centered around the dot with a good group, as well as the two other pistols I shot on the same day with the same ammo. I cleaned it and I tried 3 different loads and none were good. 200 rounds and nothing improved. I ditched it on armslist for about a $100 loss. I have since bought a used but like new 92A1 and it is on a different level. It is like the 92FS 2.0 Italy made, amazing fit and finish, well made, great trigger, classic DA/SA, great trigger pull, safety is easy to engage and disengage, and accuracy is lightyears better. It beats my older MD made 92FS. This one is a keeper. |
