I am looking to replace the trigger on my para 1911gi expert. I like the trigger pull and its smooth however I hate the trigger itself.

If I replace the trigger shoe and bar(bows?) do I need to mess with the sear or adjust angle and what not. Again I am not looking for a trigger job just a shorter shoe.

unlink a revolver, the 1911's trigger doesn't engage/release the hammer through direct contact

I'd think replacing the trigger wouldn't be an issue.  It'll push against the sear when you pull the trigger but that shouldn't change the sear to hammer engagement angles, contact surface area, etc.

You can replace the trigger itself without too much trouble. The only fitting you might need to do is file the top and bottom of the trigger to fit in your 1911. I usually place a file on the workbench and then slowly drag the trigger one way, be sure to keep the trigger flat against the file. I'll do one pass at a time on both top and bottom until the trigger can fit in your 1911 frame. You don't want to take too much off or else the trigger will have too much up and down play which can disconnect the grip safety.

also, sometimes the bow will drag on the inside of the frame,  or if it's skinny, it may bind on the mags.

it's not a big deal to fit.

brownells has several to choose from

trigger stirrup and a file would be a good investment for your project... a stone would be a plus too.

Last night after following this tread I decided to change the trigger in my Springfield Champion. I printed off three different sets of instructions from different sources. It took about thirty minutes and was a piece of cake. I was very glad that the Wilson trigger I bought needing no filing. It was a true drop in replacement. Now I think I may have look into doing more projects on this gun.
